Finding Financial Freedom
How Direct Selling Can Help
An article in Sunday’s paper says that working several jobs (meaning more than two) is “the new normal for many” Americans (Stafford, 2013).
In the article, Diane Stafford (2013) cites a survey by Staffing Industry Analysts that says that large employers expect nearly 1 in 5 of their workers to be temporary, contract, or freelance this year. Temp jobs currently account for “1 in 5 jobs created since the recession ended” 4 years ago. The effects of the Affordable Care Act, according to Stafford, will have an even larger impact on these numbers.
This has been my life for several years now. I have always worked at least two jobs since becoming a mother. For the last few years, however, I have been a contract worker for at least 4 different employers. And even with that, I was barely living paycheck to paycheck. Some months I didn’t even manage that.
So, when a financial expert started encouraging folks to considered a home-based business to supplement their income, I looked at my options. There are a lot of options out there. You can probably find something that speaks to your interests. Beachbody spoke to mine. So I became a coach and for the first time in my adult life, I felt a sense of hope that I might find some level of financial freedom. Bonus? I also became the healthiest and fittest I’ve ever been.
I encourage each of you to do the same. There are options out there that require little to no investment to get started. The costs to become a Beachbody coach are less than what you’re paying for cable. (MUCH less if you’re paying for the NBA League Pass…*sigh* I gotta have my Paul George.) If you’re active duty military, you get your business fees waived altogether.
